Spartacus 2000 had participated in 2012 Ohio Nike Challenge Cup and provided great entrainment. Spartacus players played four games, in all four were the better team, playing open and creative soccer along with decent levels of ball possession, but missed the title only due questionable refereeing decision…

Winter season last PISL game at OSA…

Last PISL 2011/12 game: suspensions and injuries yet again could have been an excuse, but as oppose to previous PISL games, Spartacus players were more determined, provided positive performance and despite moments of poor ball possession, managed to create more scoring opportunities than Vaughan Stallions. Still, neither team deserved to lose and final score of 1-1 should be considered as fair to both sides.

Challenged by the Brampton East

Suspensions and injuries, along with the beginning of intensive April workouts, did not allow Spartacus 2000 to show an optimal form against Brampton East. Other than few scoring attempts from Spartacus, Brampton players controlled most of the game and deserved to win. However, despite struggling with Brampton players’ size and speed, our boys provided an admirable performance, even though final score favoured Brampton, there are many positives from this game to build on before the summer season…

First at Players Paradise Cup…

On Wednesday, March 14, Spartacus 2000 had participated in March Break Paradise Cup.
Spartacus players had won all 3 preliminary round games (1-0 over Waterloo B, 1-0 over Waterloo A and 5-0 over FC London).
Due the better goal differential of Brampton Blast, Spartacus finished the preliminary round 2nd overall and had to play Waterloo A in the semi. In 5 minutes blitz, our boys scored 3 quick goals and secured the win. In other semi, Brampton won Whitby on penalty kicks.
10 hours after playing the opener of the tournament, Spartacus 2000 and Brampton Blast final proved to be very intensive, but Spartacus players managed to overcome a slow start and won the game by beating Brampton 2-0.

Facing Woodbridge in early game at OSA…

Mostly due injuries, both teams showed up with missing line-ups, however Woodbridge showed more composure, had significantly higher possession of the ball and deservedly won the game 1-0…

Tie with Kitchener…

Spartacus players did not have the best performance, as Kitchener was controlling most of the game.

Still, somehow, relying on good defence and battling every ball, Spartacus managed to get 1-1 tie…

Very late game at Lamport

In late 9pm game, neither of teams had shown high quality of play, but despite missing number of key players, Spartacus was definitely a better side, creating numerous scoring chances and only lack of focus and good goalkeeping prevented a higher than 2-0 score…

First win of 2012…

Although Spartacus 2000 players controlled most of the game, KNSC goalkeeper and defenders managed to deny all the scoring chances and keep scoreless result after 25 minutes. During the second half, Spartacus reorganized and added more intensity, scoring two nice goals and missing few more good chances. Final score was 2-0.

Tough Final at Downsview Holiday Classic…

Congratulations to Spartacus 2000 players for reaching the final of Downsview Park Youth Holidays Tournament.

Spartacus 2000 easily won the group stage of the Tournament, beating NY Cosmos (7-0), Dixie (4-0) and Waterloo (3-0). Despite having an extremely short bench due vacations and injuries, Spartacus boys provided an admirable performance against Vaughan Battlecats in the final. While Vaughan had a slight advantage, both teams managed to create few scoring chances, but both teams’ defences and goalkeepers were on top.

After 0-0 in regulation, teams went to a dramatic penalty shootout, after 6 penalties for each team, Vaughan came on top, winning the tournament.

Despite creating more scoring chances and having higher ball possession, Spartacus players failed to score. Brampton Blast proved to be a more efficient side by scoring one goal and winning this game.
