The Laws of SOCCER
Soccer is a fast-moving game with lots of action.
It is based on 17 Laws first agreed to in 1863, which have been revised and updated to fit in with the modern game. The rules are the same whether you are playing in your backyard or in the World Cup Finals.
The only thing is more exciting than watching a soccer game is playing the game yourself. Soccer is palyed and loved by millions of fans all over the world. In many countries, soccer is called football. that's because to play soccer, a player must use his or her feet.
A game lasts for 90 minutes and is contested by two teams, each with11 players. One player on each team must be a goalkeeper and the winner is the team that scores the most goals.
The Referee

A referee ensures that the rules of the game are followed. He or she is supported by two assistants, one on each touchline.Assistant referees carry a flag to signal infringements such as offside or a foul. The referee's decision is always final. The referee can only reverse a decision immediately after the incident, if play has not been restarted.
The Period of Play
A 90 minute match is divided into two equal halves of 45 minutes, with a halftime interval of not more than 15 min. Extra time is added on to each half to make up for stoppages such as substitutions and injuries.
In and out of Play
A ball is only out of play if a whole of the ball has crossed the touchline or goalline, whether it is on the ground or in the air.It is in play if it rebounds off a goalpost, crossbar, corner flag, or even the referee,as long as it lands on the field of play.
The field
According to the Laws of the Game, not all fields have to be the same size. They must be rectangular, and between 100 and 130 yards(90 and 120 meters) long and between 50 and 100 yards(45 and 90 meters) wide. One part of the field must always be the same size- the goal.It must be 8 feet by 8 yards( 2.44 meters high and 7.32 meters wide).
Scoring
A goal is scored when the whole of the ball crosses the goal line, between the goalposts and underneath the crossbar, as long as none of the Laws of the Game have been infringed. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. If the score is equal at the end of the game,it is known as a "draw".
